OK here are the details of my trip
Got back from Mauritius late on Monday night after a 12 hour flight! OMG what a totally beautiful place Beautiful scenery, wonderful weather, luxurious hotel etc etc The weather was very hot and needless to say I am very brown! Had a simply wonderful time scuba diving in the Indian Ocean and looking at all the incredible tropical fish The water is so clear and the beaches and coral reefs are very white. We also took a trip out on a glass bottomed boat which was amazing! It's like a whole different world down there under the ocean The island has beautiful flowers and lots of lovely tropical birds, some of which are almost tame.
Our room in the hotel was wonderful Enormous room with a lounge area and very spacious bathroom. On arrival we were greeted with a glass of champagne and our bags were magically spirited away to our rooms. Waiting in our room was another bottle of champagne on ice!! As it was my hubby's birthday while we were there, the hotel thoughtfully presented him with a personally iced cake and sang Happy Birthday to him. They also decorated our bed in our room with flower petals, some of which spelt out the words Happy Birthday
We hired a car one day to take a look around the island. We visisted Chamarel which has a 100 ft waterfall and a spectacular gorge and scenery and it also has an area which has seven different colours of earth. The whole area looks like something out of the Lost World!! We visited the capital Port Louis where there was a net cafe but my hubby decided there wasn't enough time for me to go on-line there I bought several Pashmina shawls back home with me which normally cost well over ?100 each here, over there they retail at between ?10 -?20 each!! The food was wonderful and very varied and I've discovered a new favourite cocktail - a strawberry Daiquiri There's also one they do called an Arc en Ciel (Rainbow in Heaven) which was quite heavenly btw. One of my favourite memories though is of swimming in the Indian Ocean under the moon and stars and looking up at the Morne mountain set against that night sky. All in all a quite magical experience
